10.30.010 - Standing or parking within five feet of driveway prohibited.
Except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic, or in compliance with law or the direction of a police officer or official traffic-control device, no person shall stand or park a vehicle, whether occupied or not, except momentarily to pick up or discharge a passenger or passengers in front of a public or private driveway or within five feet of a driveway entrance.
For the purpose of this section, a “driveway entrance” is defined as that portion of a depressed curb between the projections of the edges of the driveway. Where no curb exists, the driveway entrance is that portion between the projections of the edges of the driveway. (Ord. 2126 § 1, 2013; Ord. 1976 § 1, 2007; Ord. 1627 § 1, 1996).
10.30.020 - Standing or parking.
No person shall stand or park a vehicle in a roadway other than parallel with the edge of the roadway headed in the direction of lawful traffic movement and with the right side wheels of the vehicle within 12 inches of the curb except where there is no curb installed, with the left side wheels of the vehicle at least 24 inches from the right edge of the travel portion of the roadway. 10.30.030 - Parking not to obstruct traffic.
No person shall park any vehicle upon a street, other than an alley, in such a manner or under such conditions as to impede or interfere with the free movement of vehicular traffic. Any vehicle parked in such a manner as to deny another vehicle free movement on the roadway without crossing the centerline of said roadway is deemed to be parked in violation of this section. 10.30.040 - Parking in alleys.
No person shall park a vehicle within an alley in such a manner or under such conditions as to leave available less than eight feet of the width of the roadway for the free movement of vehicular traffic, and no person shall stop, stand, or park a vehicle within an alley in such a position as to block the driveway entrance to any abutting property. (Ord. 2126 § 1, 2013; Ord. 1627 § 1, 1996).
10.30.050 - Parking of trailers prohibited.
A. No person shall park a trailer in any alley or upon any city street or way open to the public except in an off-street parking facility or as otherwise provided in this section.
B. For the purpose of this section the word “trailer” includes boat trailer, camping trailer, house trailer, utility trailer or any other vehicle or conveyance designed to be connected to and drawn by a motor vehicle or dray animal.
C. The traffic engineer is authorized to determine and designate by proper signs parking places adjacent to public parks, recreational areas, and boat launching sites where recreational trailers may be parked.
D. The authority to impound vehicles granted herein shall include any trailer parked in violation of this section. (Ord. 2126 § 1, 2013; Ord. 1627 § 1, 1996).
10.30.060 - Abandoning vehicles unlawful.
No person shall leave or permit a vehicle to remain on any highway or private property without the permission of the owner longer than 24 hours; provided, however, said vehicle may remain on the highway not to exceed 72 hours if it is lawfully parked. (Ord. 2126 § 1, 2013; Ord. 1627 § 1, 1996).
10.30.070 - Parking within pavement markings.
In any area where public parking is allowed, vehicles must park within pavement markings which indicate parking spaces or stalls. (Ord. 2126 § 1, 2013).
10.30.080 - Parking in front of mailboxes prohibited.
No person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle in front of a mailbox, except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the directions of a peace officer or traffic-control device. (Ord. 2126 § 1, 2013).
10.30.090 - Parking in fire lane prohibited.
A. Pursuant to BMC 20.08.040(B), no vehicle shall be parked on, or in such a manner as to obstruct, any portion of any roadway, driveway, alleyway, parking area or other means of vehicular ingress or egress designated as a fire lane by the fire code official when reasonable notice of the designation has been given by signs, painting, symbols or other means.
B. Any person who parks a vehicle in, or who allows a vehicle to be parked in, or who obstructs, or who allows a vehicle to obstruct a designated fire lane in violation of subsection A of this section shall be deemed to have committed an infraction, punishable by a maximum fine of $150.00. Each day or part of day during which the unlawful act or violation occurs shall constitute a separate offense. (Ord. 2126 § 1, 2013).
